Vegpro wins inclusive employer award
Information on the Awards
Since 2016, CLBC’s North Okanagan Shuswap Community Council (NOSCC) has been presenting an ‘Inclusive Employer Award’ to employers and staff who provide a welcoming, inclusive and supported workplace for people living with developmental disabilities. NOSCC is a group of volunteers representing self-advocates, family members of people with disabilities, service providers, and community members in our region who liaise with CLBC.
Why Jessica-Eve McHaffie won this Award
This year, NOSCC has chosen Vegpro International Inc. Not only employ persons with developmental disabilities, (10 people!) but helps them to succeed and move up the ranks in the company. One person is now a supervisor. Joy Magnell of WORK BC named Jessica-Eve McHaffie of Vegpro, as an excellent personnel manager who, not only mentors the employees, but helps them to blossom. According to Magnell, Jessica-Eve McHaffie goes above and beyond to assist employees to feel comfortable in their new roles and then to excel and grow. Other winners of the Inclusive Employer Award in our region were Salmar Theatres in Salmon Arm and Tim Hortons in Revelstoke.
The agency, which supports adults with developmental disabilities, recognized the welcoming, inclusive and supportive workplace Vegpro has created for its staff. Vegpro and McHaffie, the personnel manager, not only mentors its employees, but helps them succeed.
