Conservation Advices

Lettuce is one of the most delicate vegetables. Because it is composed of approximately 90% of water, it is especially vulnerable to temperature variations. Thus, in order to preserve its freshness and quality, here are some conservation tips for our lettuce mixes:

Once packaged, 12 days remain. We recommend the purchase of products having at least 5 days left.

Look for the general appearance of the lettuce. Fine droplets are desirable, however, a number of large condensation drops could be a sign of exposition to a change in temperature (too hot or too cold) and the product may deteriorate before its expiry date.

Maintain the temperature between 2° and 4° C and store the lettuce in the fridge in its original container and preferably into the vegetable drawer or at the bottom of the fridge.

Consume lettuce as quickly as possible. Once the container is opened the expiry date is no longer valid and must be eaten within 48 to 72 hours (48h for romaine lettuce).

Fruits

Avoid store the lettuce with fruits such as apples, pears, bananas, cantaloupes and tomatoes, as they produce a gas that will accelerate ripening.

If the lettuce got sagged, soak it in cold icy water with a drop of vinegar or lemon juice to restore its vigorousness.

Don’t waste it, cook it.
