Black fields & colored lettuce

The soil where we grow our lettuces are unique and with exceptional properties. They are called muck soils. Resulting from the decomposition of wetlands several thousand years ago, they are very rich in organic matter, which explains their dark color. These soils have many agronomic advantages: they are light, rich in nutrients and have the ability to retain water well. They are ideal for growing delicate baby lettuces. Muck soils are also land that is fragile and we strive to preserve them by adopting sound growing practices.
