We understand that finding this in your meal is not what you expected. Our lettuces are grown in open fields, in a natural environment where certain insects may occasionally be present. While these insects are not harmful, they are part of the agricultural ecosystem, and some even play an important role in maintaining the natural balance of our crops. We have several preventive measures in place, including protective nets and pre-harvest inspections. After harvesting, our lettuces go through specialized equipment designed to remove debris and insects that may have been collected during harvesting. They are then pre-rinsed and carefully washed at our facilities. Despite these precautions, some insects can be difficult to detect. If this happens, we invite you to contact our team so we can assist you and address your concerns.

Our lettuces are carefully washed and dried before being packaged, so they are ready to enjoy. Because they are grown in open fields, it is possible, though uncommon, for a small amount of soil to remain on a few leaves—especially after periods of heavy rain. Despite our thorough washing process, traces of soil may occasionally remain. If this happens, simply rinse your salad under cold water and spin it dry before consuming.

Our lettuces are carefully washed with chlorinated water, in accordance with food safety standards, to help reduce harmful bacteria. So, if a grasshopper happens to make it through our washing process, you can be sure it has had a very thorough rinse too!

No. Our lettuces and ready-to-eat salads are already washed and ready to enjoy. After harvest, they are pre-rinsed, washed in two separate water baths, and rinsed again to ensure freshness and quality. There is no need to wash them again at home unless the packaging specifically recommends doing so. Because our products are grown in open fields, handle them with care and remove any leaves that may have been damaged during packaging.

If allergens are present, they are identified in the “Contains” statement displayed on our product packaging. If no allergen declaration is listed, it means the product does not contain any of the recognized allergens that require disclosure. While some of our ready-to-eat meals contain nuts or other allergens, we follow strict procedures and rigorous cleaning protocols to help prevent cross-contamination with other products.

Yes. Our containers are fully recyclable and made from #1 PET plastic, a material widely accepted in recycling systems across Canada. The plastic film used with our packaging is not currently recyclable; however, we continue to explore solutions that will help us improve and evolve our packaging over time.

When in season, our baby lettuces are harvested directly from our own farms. During the summer months, we grow and harvest locally in both Quebec and British Columbia. In winter, our lettuces are primarily sourced from our Florida farm, which supplies our Quebec and Florida packaging facilities, ensuring we can continue to offer fresh products year-round. During seasonal transition periods, when our farms are not able to produce the volume of baby greens needed, we work with long-standing, certified partner growers who are carefully selected and approved according to the standards of our quality assurance program.

With the exception of our certified organic product line, Fresh Attitude mesclun blends and ready-to-eat salads are not certified organic. However, over the years, we have developed unique expertise in sustainable agriculture, allowing us to adopt natural alternatives and minimize the use of herbicides and pesticides.
